Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) About Tooth Extraction

  • 1. Can dental problems really cause headaches?

Yes, some dental and jaw conditions can contribute to headaches. TMJ disorders, bruxism and dental infections are recognised examples, although headaches can also have non-dental causes.

  • 2. How can I tell whether jaw pain is dental-related?

Pain that worsens with chewing or jaw movement, along with clicking, stiffness, tooth sensitivity or facial discomfort may not alone indicate a dental or TMJ-related source. A clinical examination is needed to confirm the cause.

  • 3. Can teeth grinding cause morning headaches?

Yes. Bruxism can overwork the jaw muscles and is associated with jaw soreness and dull headaches, including headaches around the temples.

  • 4. Can a tooth infection cause jaw pain?

Yes. A dental abscess or deeper tooth infection can cause pain, tenderness or swelling in the jaw and surrounding facial areas.

  • 5. Should I see a dentist for persistent jaw pain?

Persistent or recurring jaw pain should be assessed, especially when it occurs with headaches, chewing difficulty, swelling, tooth pain or limited jaw movement.
